I've been working on drafting two articles for the Coastal Carolina Breast Center. While researching information to write the article I was saddened by the number of people that are affected by cancer each year.
I hope I don't bore you with statistics but it helps to understand the full impact of this disease. In 2010 it was estimated that there were 23,240 new cases of cancer in South Carolina and 1,529,560 new cases in the U.S.
The 2011 American Cancer Society Relay For Life at Coastal Carolina University campus will be held Friday, April 8th at the CCU Track. This is an opportunity to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
There are currently 745 participants and $65,376.68 has been raised. Come out and support a great cause!

We have created a survey to help provide important information when re-designing the Katies Project website.
We would like to ask everyone to please take the survey. The more feedback we get the better we can understand what changes need to be made.
If you go to: http://katiesproject.org/ and click around the site a survey will pop up. It should only take you a few minutes.
We appreciate any feedback you can give us.
Everyone enjoy their spring break and be safe :)

Coastal Carolina University graduation is 2 MONTHS from yesterday!! Yikess that's scary!
It is crucial when applying and interviewing for jobs to make a lasting impression. A project was assigned to me last week that gave me a great idea for marketing yourself.
I was asked to research information on QR's, and for those of you who don't know what that is they are quick response codes. You can scan them with your smartphone (which practically everyone has now-a-days) and they will pull up a URL.
This technology allows you to make a QR code linking to your resume or any other site and put it on your business card.
The research suggests that it is a great tool to market yourself and makes a great and lasting impression on people.
I wish you all the best of luck in your job searches!

Coastal Carolina put on a presentation last week about social media sites and their importance when branding yourself.
Yupp facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, foursquare..we all have them!
They have become a part of our every day lives, but more importantly they are now being used as a tool for networking and even getting a JOB :)
The speaker stressed the importance of creating a good image for yourself. He provided examples of how individuals he has worked with have been fired for information they have posted on there social media sites.
One thing that I found interesting was that lawyers are now using social media sites during jury duty selection to find out more information about the individuals.
He couldn't stress enough BE SMART with your choices because once things are on the internet you can delete them but they are never really gone!
Yours Truly,
Karen
